Mile 621, coming to you from the Town House Motel in Lusk, WY, drying out from a long ride in serious rain. The lightning show was beautiful, though, now that I’m off the bike.
To get to here: Stopped for a pilot car to take us through some road work, a bunch of guys passed me on their bikes. I passed them later when they stopped to put on their rain gear. They passed me again when I finally got smart and put mine on in fairly heavy rain.
We all met up in the Lusk Yesway gas station, maybe ten of us dripping all over the floor. We greeted each other warmly and swore about the weather. We traded points of origin and destinations and talked about road conditions. The guys were riding as a group.
One of them said he saw me, a single rider out there, “and it was a girl!” I want to be as badass as he made it sound. Maybe by the end of the trip. “Nice bike,” he also said. He’d owed a Scout himself.
